A pound is equivalent to 3500 calories. In order to lose weight you can consume fewer calories or increase your activity level or both. Once a 3500 calorie deficit is created a pound is lost. Give yourself at least two to four weeks to lose a pound. Be patient. Weight lost quickly usually comes back.
How do I know what I should be eating? Focus on eating fruits and vegetables and limiting fat and sugar. Think about eating food from each of the food groups every day. How do I know how many calories I should be eating? How can I track this easily? My Pyramid Plan
To lose weight concentrate on aerobic activity as well as resistance (weight) training. Aim to be active for an hour daily at least six times per week. Lifting weight plays an important role in losing weight because this will increase lean body tissue. Because lean body tissue requires more calories than non-lean tissue this is a bonus deal!
Another part in losing weight is learning how to decipher food labels and making healthy food choices. For a great explanation of reading food labels, visit Food Labels.

Never eat less than 1200 calories per day. If you are losing weight as a result of eating fewer than 1200 calories per day, your lean muscle tissue is suffering. Anything less than 1200 daily calories will make it increasingly difficult to lose weight as your body will begin to hold on to every calorie as best as it can. Also eating less than 1200 calories won't meet the nutrient requirements of your body.

I found this to be very helpful! Thanks for sharing!
Great! Do you have a weight training plan? Do you do full body or do you alternate between upper body one day and lower body the next?
This is helpful and makes me nervous at the same time...
I have only lost ten - fifteen pounds since the baby was born, and most of this was from right after he was born. I still have 30 to lose to be at my old size.
My biggest problem is consistency. I will do really well one week and keep track of what I eat and run, but the next week I will not eat as well and only run 2 - 3 days.
Helpful post!
Once you establish a habit of exercising it will get easier. Maybe if you workout the same time every day it will be a prompt to exercise.
Thanks so much for coming by again! :)
I'm thinking my issues with eating M&MS will not help me lose the punds I have kept on ever since hitting my 30s. :)
Thanks for the encouragement to get moving! I need to!
Blessings!

hee hee, that would be "pounds"! Not "punds"! I saw it right as I was pushing the button to publish the comment! :)
My biggest struggle has been to eat more than 1200 calories consistently. My body has been in "starvation mode" for quite a while and is holding onto fat as a result. Overcoming years of bad habits of skipping meals and starvation is proving to be a real challenge!
Kimberly, you can start with 10 to 15 minute increments of exercise and build from there.
Angel, change isn't always easy and can feel like an ongoing uphill battle. I'm proud of your efforts to get healthier!
