Hiking Memories

Join me as I reminisce about our hiking trip in Washington state. Very beautiful. I don't know if you enjoy camping or not, but if you do, this is the perfect place, despite the fact it gets cold at night. We didn't have a tent or supplies, it was a day of hiking.

Eagerly awaiting the trail head. Very excited about the snow! (Seeing how we live in the desert, it is a special treat for us).

We all had a great time, but Kman had the most fun!

The hike was breathtaking and Kman slept most of the way back to town.

Staying on Track

For those of you who are dying to know, I have been successful in making healthful food selections while on vacation.

When I made the so called "pact", I agreed to cheating once in two weeks. Although it was small, I did cheat nonetheless.

The culprit was fruit dip laced with sugar. I did eat more fruit than dip and it was a much better alternative than cake and ice cream.

I've also made it to the gym with my mom on several occasions. Now if I could just take time out to do Pilates.

Just Like Old Times

One of my best friends from high school and I were able to spend some time together this week. Very cool that it worked out like it did. She got back from a family vacation and left for another "work" related trip today. Nothing like good time management. (I will be heading back to Phoenix when she gets back into town).

The first day we went out for lunch. (Just us). So much to say, where do you start? We've kept in touch over the years, but probably not like we should have.

On day two we visited at her house. Our boys swam and played. We talked. Cracks me up how much our boys are alike and how similar our parenting styles are. 20 years later and we STILL have so much in common.

Rainy Day Schedule

We live in the desert and we don't see much rain. Our monsoon (somewhat rainy) season is in July. It probably has been six months since we've seen rain before we got here.

Although Louisiana hasn't had the normal amount of rain lately, it has rained at least 3 times since we've been here. Kman and I sit outside eagerly waiting the raindrops. Once it starts to rain, he runs around until he is soaking wet. Meanwhile I sit under the covered patio taking pictures.

Fun times.

Crooked River Bridge

Disclaimer: I realize it has been almost a month since we got back from vacation. It has taken me a while to post pictures I know. Hopefully my strenuous school schedule is a good enough reason.

This was a very enjoyable stop.

I love the shadows from the early morning sun.

Kman is getting to be pretty good with the camera, wouldn't you say?

Has it Really Been 20 Years?

Even though it was hard for me to get past the fact that 20 years have gone by since I graduated from high school, I really enjoyed myself at the reunion.

Some people look the same and haven't changed a bit. Others have changed tremendously. From what I hear I haven't changed much. Hopefully that explains why so many people recognized me and remembered my name (before I got around to getting a name tag) and why I had to keep checking name tags.

Surely my memory isn't starting to fail me, because I'm probably a bit young for that yet. (That is my hope anyway).

We had a great time. Great music and lots of laughing. And I was able to eat healthfully, a definite bonus.
