I don't have any organization in what I'm about to say. Nothing to ease the shock and pain associated with the news.
My Dad lived to be 61. He died from a heart attack while he was walking in a race two Saturdays ago. (One of his favorite things to do). He didn't seem to suffer at all which is a blessing.
We didn't know the crucial part of his brain was no longer working as his brain stem was fine. Discouragement set in after he did not wake up from sedation. One day went by, then two. Then the news.
Although he was fortunate enough to have 2 nurses at his side doing CPR, it wasn't enough. Oxygen didn't get to his brain, not enough anyway.
How can this be we all wondered. How?
You see he was adamant about eating well and exercising daily for 20+ years. I would have never thought it possible in a million years. Never.

Laundry (can be) Fun
For those of you who have been around a while, you probably remember previous posts on pocket treasures I find. Over the years I find some funny stuff, but it just doesn't warrant a photo.
Today however is different.

All items posted here were in Kman's pocket. I haven't asked yet exactly what the combination means, but I can tell you he goes on numerous spy missions.

Sanity, it's a Good Thing
This is the cover of a brown paper bag album. I used a button to close the cover.
Plenty of room on the inside to add pictures of "what have you" shots.
Having an outlet to be creative is a refreshing break from studying for school.
Did I mention it is good stress relief?

Am I Dreaming, or Did that Just Happen?
My 8 year old bit me today (hard). He claimed he didn't do it. What? Can he be serious?
Isn't it a bit ironic that I'm posting this after the last post about why I love to be a mom? Life sure can throw you for a loop sometimes.
So I decided to floss his teeth. The first time went well. The second not so good. He bit me so hard I had teeth marks to prove it. He denied it. I showed him the marks. He said that it was because I was PUSHING my fingers onto his teeth.
He released the death grip only because I was screaming aaawha quite loudly. On more of a positive note, there was no blood.
He went to bed upset. I wasn't in the mood to console him. I stood by his door to make sure the sobbing slowed down to a whimper.
Not real happy with him today. Hopefully tomorrow will be better.

Big Top Three
I love being a mom for so many reasons, but here are the top three.
First, I love all of the sights I just happen upon. Our dogs for some reason love to sleep under the bed. Sometimes though they just aren't all the way under (although they think they are). Kman loves to join in on the fun.

All the special goodies that are hand made for me! Apparently I wasn't supposed to see this until AFTER it was done. Oops.

A Fork in the Road
photo by Kevin DooleyOr maybe not. Our forks are missing however. We started out with 16. Even though it has been 14 years since we got married, it seems like we would have more than just 6 forks total now.
And none of them were ruined by the garbage disposal. (That would have been the fate of several spoons though).
I'm not even sure if I should be embarrased by this, or if it is a normal course of life. All the other utensils are in tact and plentiful.
Has this happened to you? Anyone?
